Product Information

  • Grapes for this Malbec are grown in the Andes Mountains of Argentina, then chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus, where we use our winemaking techniques to create a style that is dense, dark and supple. Falling outside standard labeling rules, Red Schooner does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it traveled (i.e. Voyage 11 is the 2021 vintage). Strikingly smooth, with scents and flavors of dark fruit and fine, textural tannins.

    • SCENTS: Saddle leather, dark ripe plum, rocky earth, and mesquite fired bar-b-que; a highly texturous nose that suggests the rich quality of the wine
    • FLAVORS: Enters with an intense dark berry character, with plums and blackberry; leather mingles with hints of tobacco and coffee bean
    • VINEYARDS: Grapes are grown in the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina – specifically, the highest 20% elevation of the Uco Valley
    • FARMING NOTES: Once harvested, fruit for this wine is chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus
    • STYLE DIFFERNTIATOR: As a \"Red Wine of the World,\" this Malbec bears the Caymus thumbprint – rich and supple, with lush fruit and soft tannins
    • AGING: Approximately 15 months in French oak
