If you’re searching for something sweet that won’t derail your new year’s goals, look no further. No-bake energy balls are endlessly customizable and packed with both protein and fiber to keep you satisfied long after the last bite.

Here’s a simple recipe to follow:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¾ cup nut butter
  • ½ cup ground flaxseed
  • ⅓ cup honey, maple syrup or agave
  • 2 Tbsp. chia seeds
  • ½–¾ cup mix-ins, plus more for optional topping

In a large bowl, stir together all of the ingredients until combined. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Sprinkle with additional mix-ins, if you’d like. Leftovers keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week in the refrigerator or 3–6 months in the freezer. Just be sure to separate any layers of energy bites with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
