It's Your Party

Who doesn’t love a party? Often times, it’s the host or hostess! That’s because throwing a party can be a lot of work. But the good news is that it doesn’t have to be. The next time the party is at your house, just follow these tips for planning ahead. Then let the party begin – and enjoy it!

Four Weeks Ahead

Whether you’re planning a birthday party, a holiday get-together or a backyard barbeque, the first thing you should do is choose a date, time, theme and location. Then decide whom you would like to invite and purchase invitations.

Three Weeks Ahead

Next, mail the invitations, so guests can mark the party on their calendars. Now, for the fun part: choose the menu. A good way to take the pressure off yourself (and spend less time in the kitchen) is to order an assortment of party platters from your store’s deli. Each tray is made using the highest quality ingredients, from delicious meats and cheeses to field-fresh fruits and vegetables. And they’re all prepared fresh and made to order just for you. From appetizers to desserts, we’re sure to have a platter that’s perfect for your party.

One Week Ahead

Place your party platter order. (Since our platters are made to order, we need at least 24 hours notice prior to pick-up.) And don’t forget to order a themed cake too – it’s not only delicious, it can also double as a decorative centerpiece for your buffet table. If any of your guests have not RSVP’d, now is the time to give them a call to see if they will be attending. Also, shop for any last-minute items.

One Day Ahead

Do as much as you can today, so that you won’t be exhausted the day of the party. Prepare any food that can be refrigerated and clean your house. Re-arrange the furniture to make your home more party-friendly. Have fun decorating with strung lights, candles and floral arrangements.

Day of Party

Four hours prior to the start of the party, pick up your platters and cake from the store. Two hours ahead of party time, get dressed – but consider wearing an apron. A half hour ahead, set the table with plates, napkins, utensils, cups, beverages and food. Within 15 minutes of your guests arriving, start the music and light the candles. Then, all you have to do is smile…and let the party begin!
